My Inspiration for Jewelry Making
1st Oct 2015
A shift in energy takes hold as the weather begins to cool, carrying in a gentle breeze and bringing autumn’s crisp presence to life. It seems like yesterday that spring was just a hopscotch away, gracing us with its warmth and opening us up to new experiences. Long gone are the days of sunlight gently caressing my skin, and I am reminded that fall has finally arrived. Fall is about moving inwards, finding our center, and reflecting on our past experiences. As a matter of a fact, I too find myself aligning with a new energy shift. Lately, my mind deep in reflection, the thought of daily routines comforts me. Otherwise, a contrast from the high energy and adventurous spirit that is accompanied by the seasons of spring and summer.
Indeed, my connection to the stones is what inspires me to make jewellery. And, through meditation I am able to intuitively connect with the energy of the gemstones.
Here is a synopsis of what goes on during a meditation.
As I close my eyes and sit in stillness, the only sound is the inhalation and exhalation of my breath. I start to feel my body relaxing; my breathing begins to slow and becomes more rhythmic. With the stone cupped in both hands, I focus my energy on my center, pushing the energy outwards until it encases my entire body. Instantaneously the energy travels up to my head, down to my feet, and to my palms where the energy meets with the stone. Slowly a dance of intertwining energies begins - a merging of one. For a while, we dance a silent tango until images or feelings arise within me. I stay in this energy and continue to immerse myself in the knowledge and presence of the stone. Surely, when a strong silence overcomes me, I know our session has been completed. I thank the stone for connecting with me. Again, I focus on my center, guiding my energy back from my head, feet, and palms. Then, I continue to ground myself by envisioning roots growing from my feet and connecting to the earth.
For the most part, my design process comes to me in many ways. For instance, it can be in the form of a vision, an idea, or a sense of knowing about the stone. For this reason, I enjoy designing inspirational pieces that speak to the heart and brings the stones essence to life.
With Love,
